Diana’s newer collection “Rain” was started in 2021. By manipulating beautiful paints and applying her “no rules with art” theory, this series has caused a perfect “storm”! Taking time away from the wait-listed Bunee series, the pandemic has allowed time for Diana to bring this series to life. It’s called ”Rain” because of the sound it makes when the paint hits the canvas. It abstract base and framed with hard-edge contemporary border.. All blending harmoniously and allowing the gazer to lose themselves in endless imagery.
Always pushing her limits, Diana took on the challenge of hard-edge paintings. Multiple large works were completed, all pushing the boundaries on clean line work and geometric shapes. These works also were her modern take on traditional landscapes.
Through vibrant colours and only the use of palette knives, a series of abstract landscapes were born and quickly embraced!
This collection holds Diana’s thoughts, some connecting and making sense and some just non-sensical, causing the gazer to try and decipher the why or what.
The doodle series is something that just happened and with a play on ”c’est tres jolie”, the collection was born.
Whimsically mysterious, disconnected yet linked, like life, never knowing what to expect next.....it’s very Diana, C’est Tres Joleen!
Using her unique formula to alter acrylic paints and again without the use of any brushes, but rather just her breath and straws, Diana Joleen would literally blow life into each of her flowers. The abstract take on nature’s beauty mesmerized many and this limited series also sold out.
A lot of trial and error was to be had before Diana Joleen’s formula was perfected. Precise modification of her acrylic paints was necessary to achieve the complex yet delicate balance between all colours used in one canvas. Capturing harmony and light, many were drawn into each original piece, selling out the series quickly!
Using only her uniquely modified acrylics, Diana Joleen continued to push the “brushless“ boundaries and by only using straws and her breath created captivating works that were the first to sell out completely.
Combining her two previous sold out series, Fluid & Straws, “Invisible” was born. Each original work of art, while appearing abstract, had hidden images. Allowing the viewer time for the painting to wrap around them until the hidden image became clear. (The painting featured has a hidden dove.)
Using her current style of clean lines and vibrant colours, abstract paintings were created. This was the only series where paintbrushes were used. Sold Out.
In the wake of the unknown, a lot of people stocked up on their art supplies leaving some of us out in the cold. Thankfully, that adversity pushed Diana into digital arts, which up until feeling like she had no choice, avoided that avenue completely out of fear of failing. After some practice and tweaking her personal style, her pop style portraits were born. This led to a UK Professional Dance Company to commission her to create new and even more challenging works!
Diana Joleen felt compelled to create this collection as a means to remind the divided world that we are “One”.
During the toughest years in most recent history, the global pandemic humbled us all. Regardless of our geography, creed, race, sex, we united as the human race to fight against the virus.
But unfortunately the world remains divided and at war. Wars on race. Wars on religion. Wars on territory.
Being an artist, Diana Joleen always feels that she needs to release positivity and hope through her works.
This collection embodies the beauty of any sky. The hues of a sunset, the bursts of the sun as it breaks dawn, regardless of where we are, all under one sun, one moon, One Sky.
We are one.
Diana’s most recent collection is not only fun to look at but to touch too! Using french made heavy body paints, applied into perfect little peaks it reminded viewers of the infamous Hershey Kiss chocolate, hence the name. Given the unique textural properties of this collection, Diana will be partnering with CNIB to create a first of its kind touchable art for the visually impaired.
